Press Release: UCM Earns CHQI Accreditation for Telemedicine

CHQI Telemedicine Industry Accreditation recognizes UCM’s commitment to quality of care

June 12, 2019, Troy, NY – United Concierge Medicine (UCM) is proud to announce that it has earned ClearHealth Quality InstituteTM (CHQI) accreditation for telemedicine. CHQI is an independent health care accrediting body that offers the only telemedicine or telehealth accreditation program backed by the American Telemedicine Association (ATA).

By achieving this status, UCM demonstrates to patients, the medical community, regulators and other stakeholders that its telemedicine policies, programs, and processes meet the clinical, legal, technology, and administrative standards set forth by CHQI to advance safety and quality.

Michael Gomes, CEO, ClearHealth Quality Institute said, “As a CHQI accredited organization for telemedicine, UCM represents a new standard of quality in the delivery of telemedicine in our country. By completing the CHQI Telemedicine Accreditation Program’s application and demonstration process, UCM took part in substantive assessment process through which it received meaningful, constructive feedback to improve operations. UCM has taken the important steps necessary to promote access to safe, quality, and competent health care.”

Since being established in 2014, UCM has been a leader in healthcare innovation, with its focus on transforming triage and reducing traditional ER visits. As their model has evolved, UCM has expanded beyond just providing care for employer groups, to adding challenging patient populations such as the Medicaid/Medicare population, homeless and developmentally disabled, even sexual assault victims through its innovative TeleSAFE program. With payer and provider partners across New York State and the country, UCM’s Virtual ER footprint and reach have grown not just in size, but as this accreditation shows, in quality.

Keith Algozzine, PA-C, CEO of UCM said, “We have always placed a priority on meeting the highest quality standards of care and were just the 5th healthcare organization in the country to achieve the ATA accreditation back in 2016. We have seen first-hand the impact our virtual ER model has on patients, payers, and providers. We are thrilled to have achieved this important recognition from CHQI, once again validating the most important part of our model – quality of care.”

The CHQI Telemedicine Accreditation Program offers high fidelity and targeted standards covering key elements of the emerging telemedicine industry. CHQI officially launched the Telemedicine Accreditation Program in April 2018, along with a comprehensive accreditation guide that provides background on each standard and details the documentation requirements.
